Tactics at the 39th move
Find the best move with White !
White (who sent me the spectacular game and position) to play in the following position, which happened in a recent tournament game.
1. Ng5 wins indeed, here are a few lines: a) 1..Qa1 2.Qe8+ Kg7 3.Qf7+ Kh6 4.Qf8+! K:g5 (4..Qg7 5. Nf7+ and 6.Q:g7) 5.f4+ Kh5 6.g4+ Rh4 7.Qh6# b) 1..Qa2 2.Qe8+ Kg7 3.Qe7+ Kh6/g8 4. 1. Ng5! wins. A classic example where Queen+Knight pair up to chase the opponent's King.
This is a great position to solve because Black has a Queen+Rook which means he's leading from a material standpoint.
